Chandratal trek

Moon Lake is how this wonder of nature is known as the serenity of this place is to be felt as the world will come to a full stop for your viewing pleasure at the Lake.

The scenery will keep on changing as you trek through this unexplored territory to the Chandratal which is surrounded by the Mulkila and Chandrabhaga Massifs. The mountains in the backdrop provide the perfect background to this hypnotic lake with a variety of shades and colors.

Duration of the trek- 11 nights and 12 days
Grade of the trek- moderately difficult

Itinerary

Day-1

Arrival at Delhi airport, there will be a short tour of this magnificent city after a cup of coffee at the hotel. Stay will be in hotel.

Day-2

We will be catching the morning Shatabadi Train to Chandigarh; we will take the waiting taxis to Manali. Total traveling time will be approximately 11 hours; we will be spending 3 to 4 hours in the train and the rest in the Jeep. Stay will be in hotel.

Day-3

We will check out Manali and the surrounding with a tour of the Hadimba Devi temple, the art gallery, Naggar castle and the Tibetan Monastery. The evening will be spent leisurely. Stay will be in hotel.

Day-4

We will be driving to Batala in 4 hours and covering 100 kilometers. The drive will take us over the famous Rohtang Pass (3980 meters). Today we will have a short trek to get in to the groove and help with the acclimatization. Stay will be in tented accommodation.

Day-5

We will start our trek from Batala to Chandratal (4250 meters) covering 18 kilometers in 6 hours. This trek will give us a panoramic view of the Lahual Range with peaks like   Talagiri (6279 M), Minar (6172 M), Tara Pahar (6227 M) and Mulkila (6517 M). Chandratal is very beautiful between the lower ridge and the main Kunzum range. The lake bleeds in to the Chandra River. Stay will be in tented accommodation.

Day-6

We will explore this beautiful and fascinating place known as Chandratal, you can swim in the chill waters or just lounge with a good book as you soak in the sun shine or take a small hike and enjoy the surroundings. Stay will be in tented accommodation.

Day-7

We will be trekking towards Tokpo Yongma (4350 meters) in 6 hours and covering 12 kilometers. Through out the trek e will have ample opportunity to see the ranges and the flowing glaciers. Stay will be in tented accommodation.

Day-8

The trek today will be towards Tokpo Gongma (4650 meters) over 5 hours and covering 10 kilometers. Today we will cross a river also using just our ropes with which we will make a small rope bridge or slither across the river. The best time to cross the river is early in the morning. Stay will be in tented accommodation.  

Day-9

We will be trekking towards the Baralacha Pass (4950 meters) in which we will cover 10 kilometers in 5 hours. This Baralacha pass is a cross road where roads from Lahual, spiti, Zanskar and Ladakh meet up, the literal meaning of Baralacha is a pass with cross roads on the summit. This pass divides the Lahual Ranges from the Himalayas and is the starting point of Bhaga, Chandra and the Yunam rivers.
This will be the last stop for the trek and we will take the road from here to Manali by jeeps. Stay will be in hotel.

Day-10

We will drive straight back to Chandigarh and catch the evening Shatabadi train back to Delhi. Stay will be in hotel.

Day-11

Today we will spend the entire day in old Delhi and immerse ourselves in this fascinating place. After exploring Delhi we will head back to our hotel. Stay will be in hotel.

Day-12

We will take a flight back to our destination.

The tour is all inclusive.

We will provide porters and packed lunch.

The permits will be taken by us.

Important: get good walking shoes.

If you don’t have sleeping bags these will also be provided.
