Deccan Odyssey

This week long sojourn across the land of the Marathas takes you through the heartland of India in 13 fully air conditioned luxury saloons with all the amenities possible, there are twin bedded chambers with intercom, attached toilets cum shower, channel music, wall to wall carpeting and mp3\Cd players are also available. There is a complimentary bottle of wine in each of the rooms.

There are two Presidential suites, each having a bed room and a living room as well.

There are smoking as well as non-smoking suite cars also.

There are two restaurants to cater to you exclusively, known as Peshwa-1 and Peshwa-2 both of these restaurants are a gourmets delight, serving authentic Indian cuisines and a varied variety of top class cuisine from across the globe each with a capability to seat 35 people.

There is a top class bar “Hi Mumbai” which serves up a heady mix of concoctions for your relaxation.

There is a Gymnasium which will help to keep you in shape and an Ayurvedic Body Massage parlor and a steam bath to soothe the frayed nerves. There is a beauty parlor to take care of all your needs.

Samvad (conversation) is the conference car equipped with the latest facilities and high speed internet connectivity. There is a business center also which will take care of all your business needs.
 
 There is a mail box which takes care of all your correspondence with utmost care.

There is a Doctor on call and the doctor will be available on the next station.

There is a personal attendant to take care of all your travel needs.

Upon arrival each guest is provided with an arrival kit, which consists of cards, brochures and stationery items.

There is a library, which has a good collection for your reading pleasure.

This journey of seven nights takes you from Mumbai onwards to Ganapatipule, Sindhudurg, Tarkarli, Goa, Pune, Aurangabad and back to Mumbai. It will cover a total distance of 2,200 kms.  

TheDeccan Odyssey will take you across the best of the beaches in Ganapatipule and Goa, an amazing sea fort in Sindhudurg which used to guard the port of Malvan during the reign of the Might Marathas; you will visit Tarkarli which is a beautiful combination of the Karli River and the Devbagh Sea, you will also visit the world famous Ajanta and Ellora caves and explore the rich heritage of Aurangabad along with getting to know the heady mix of artist, painters, philosophers and writers in Pune. This journey of 7 nights will take you through the varied cultures of the diverse and fascinating place known as India.

Schedule

Day one: Wednesday

You will be departing from Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus at 16.40 hours. After settling in, you can check out the entire Deccan Odyssey. Dinner is on board.

Day two: Thursday

After having breakfast on board, you will get off at Bhoke station and take a bus to Rai jetty from here you will take a cruse to the Jaigad fort, after exploring the fort you will be of to Ganapatipule by road (air conditioned buses are used) where you will immerse yourself in the Konkani atmosphere with its expanse of the sea surrounded with the most beautiful beaches ever. A must have is the locale cuisine, onwards to Ratnagiri which is a potpourri of forts, temples and cleanest beaches ever. This place is the birth place of the Alphonso mangoes which are connoisseurs delight. Back to Deccan Odyssey, dinner on board.
  
Day three: Friday

Traveling alongside the Konkan coast you will reach Sindhurdurg Nagri railway station; from here you will travel bus to Malvan Jetty and onwards to Sindhurdurg Fort which is a sea fort. Then you will drive to Tarkarli beach for lunch after which you will check out the picture perfect setting of this place. Then you will take the cruise boat to Kalse Jetty and take a bus to Sawantwadi town, here you can watch the locale craftsmen manufacturing handicrafts, primarily paintings, furniture and lacquer handicrafts. You will board the Deccan Odyssey from Sawantwadi railway station, dinner will be on board.

Day four: Saturday

Today you will be reaching the party spot of this great nation India, the beauty of this place is in its sand beaches, lush green fields, hills choc a block with forests and the ancient cathedrals which lend an air of grandeur to this place. Morning is reserved for a walk around old Goa, where you will experience the old beauty of this place. Then in the afternoon it is time to check out the culture and the locale food of this vibrant place. Dinner will be on board the Deccan Odyssey.

Day five: Sunday

In the morning you will be arriving in Pune the cultural capital of Maharashtra. After breakfast the first stop will be Phule Mandi the old central market place, after visiting Kelkar museum, Iyengar Yoga institute, synagogue and the Agha Khan palace you will take lunch at hotel Taj\ Le-Meridian. Then it is time to visit the Osho Ashram, in the evening you will head for Shaniwarwada Palace where you will be treated to a light and sound show which will high light the Maratha Empire in its full glory. Dinner is on board the Deccan Odyssey.

Day 6: Monday

The time machine (pun intended) will take you back among the picturesque ruins and the small hills of Aurangabad, s rich heritage. After breakfast you will move to Daulatabad Fort and explore its ruins to your hearts content. The next stop is the famous Ellora caves which are a World Heritage Site. These caves have 17 Hindu, 12 Buddhists and 5 Jain caves, which include chapels and monasteries where the priests used to worship. Then back to Aurangabad for a cultural program and lunch at Taj hotel.
Then onwards to Shivaji Museum which has a great collection of antiques and weapons from the period of the Maratha Empire, next stop is the Bibi-Ka-Maqbara which is a replica of the Taj Mahal. Then it is time to shop for that perfect gift\memorabilia for your folks back home. Dinner is on board the Deccan Odyssey.

Day 7: Tuesday

Reach Jalgaon railway station early in the morning, after breakfast take the bus to Waghora valley the home of Ajanta Caves. These caves are made out of volcanic lava and are older then the Ellora caves. There are paintings on the walls and ceilings, the murals and the sculptures are among the best in the world.
Then onwards to Nashik on board the train. This place is the equivalent of all the great vineyards of the world. The visit to the Winery is the high point of the visit, here you will get to know the fine points of wine making and storing as well as turn in to a wine coinsure by tasting different wines and gorge on amazing food as well. Dinner is on board the Deccan Odyssey.

Day 8: Wednesday

After breakfast we reach back to Mumbai and alight at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus.
The journey is concluded.

There is a group photograph taken and given to each member of this elite club. Known as the Deccan Odyssey club.

Cancellation

Cancellation must be faxed, e-mailed or given in written to the proper authorities.
Refund will be given after certain deductions as per the schedule.
