Palace on wheels

The journey which will take you through the splendor of Rajasthan starting from Delhi onwards to Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Sawai Madhopur, Chittaurgarh, Udaipur, Bharatpur, Agra and back to Delhi.

You will experience the true life of the kings and queens as the Palace on wheels has 14 passenger coaches which are named after former princely states and reflect the grandeur of Rajasthan at its peak.

There is wall to wall carpeting in the rooms as well as the corridors, there is upholstered and inlaid furniture especially made for the train, piped music, intercom and attached washrooms with running cold and hot water, the large windows are there for you to gaze upon the magnificent view from the luxury of your air-conditioned salons, the entire length of the train is air-conditioned as well.

 There are four coupes in each coach, which are decorated in the colors of the state they represent down to the royal emblem which is highlighted, two of the coupes have train beds with foldable bed for a third person and the other two have double beds.

 Then there is a library, a beauty salon and a mini gym as well as two dining cars aptly named the Maharaja and the Maharani restaurants, which are done up lavishly, there is a lounge plus bar coach which will cater to your evening round of drinks with amazing cocktails and mock tails as well, the royal ambience is created by the period furniture with which this place is tastefully decorated. The on board kitchen serves freshly cooked food which ranges from Indian to Continental, the must try are the Rajasthani food which is simply heavenly.

 The best part is that each salon has a Khidmatgar (personal attendant) who will look after your each and every whim.

The schedule : Delhi - Jaipur - Jaisalmer - Jodhpur - Sawai Madhopur - Chittaurgarh - Udaipur - Bharatpur - Agra – Delhi

Time duration: 07 Nights/ 08 Days  

The Itinerary is:

Day one: The getaway begins at New Delhi Railway Station where the guests are accorded a warm welcome keeping in mind the Rajasthani Credo that the guest is akin to God; you will begin your journey in the evening for Jaipur on board thePalace on wheels.

Day two: You reach Jaipur also known as the pink city which was founded by Swai Jai Singh the second.
The tour of the city is by an air-conditioned bus which portrays Jaipur in its full glory. First stop is Hawa Mahal the icon of Jaipur, onwards to Fort Amber and the experience of the elephant ride to the top to check out the architecture and the museum. Lunch is at Palace Hotel, and then on to Jantar Mantar and the City palace, there are ample opportunities for shopping as well. Reach the Palace on wheels around 6:30pm.

Day three: Jaisalmer is bang in the Thar Desert and was founded by Rawal Jaisal. The yellow sandstone fort towering over the city is an awe aspiring sight, with the rolling sand dunes all around to complete the picture. The Havelis have magnificent Facades and are standing works of art.
Lunch will be on board the Palace on Wheels.
Dinner and cultural folk dance will be at the hotel.
After dinner you will leave for Jodhpur on Palace on wheels.

Day four: In the morning you reach Jodhpur the second largest city of Rajasthan, Mehrangarh fort is the most famous fort of this region, the city is surrounded by a stone wall which has eight gates which serve as exit and entry points. Lunch will be at Royal Palace Hotel. Then back to Palace on wheels.

Day five: Sawai Madhopur is the next stop; this city was founded by Sawai Madho Singh the first. The change from sand dunes to the semi hills with wildlife sanctuary Ranthambore National Park known for tiger spotting. The back drop to the reserve is the old fort which lends an ethnic look to the reserve. After spending the better part of the day in the reserve, we reach back to the Palace on Wheels and on to Chittaurgarh.

Day five: Chittaurgarh is synonymous with legends of valor and the resounding battles which created the legend which surrounds this place. This place was the capital of the kingdom of Mewar and the fort of Chittaurgarh built on a steep hill occupies 240 hectares of land and is the testament to the Rajput spirit.

Day six: The city of lakes is how this beautiful and romantic place Udaipur is known as. The Palace on wheels will arrive here at 7:30am and you will have the full day to check out this beautiful and historical place. The must see are Jag Mandir, Jag Niwas (lake palace), city palace and Sahelion ki Bari. The miniature paintings are a must see.

Day seven: Arriving in Bharatpur early morning at 6:3am, there will be a tour of the Keoladeo Ghana National Park which is famous for its bird sanctuary. The migratory birds which the park is renowned for include Spanish sparrow, Rosy Pelican, Coot Snipes, Flamingo, Siberian Cranes and Water Fowl.

Onwards to Fatehpur Sikri which was built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar; Panch Mahal, Blund Darwaza and Jodha Bai’s Palace are a must visit. Within Fatehpur Sikri is a Mosque which is dedicated to a Sufi Saint Sheikh Salim Chisti, this was built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar.

The piece-d-résistance Taj Mahal which epitomes love and was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan to commemorate his love for his Queen Mumtaz Mahal. It is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The city of Agra boasts of many other things as well there are a tomb of Itmad-Ud-Daulah the Red fort and the tomb of Mughal Emperor Akbar at Sikandara. This place is also known for its Jewelry, leather goods and the Famous Petha (sweetmeat).

Dinner will be on board the Palace on wheels, and in the morning you will be back in Delhi.

Cancellation

Cancellation must be faxed, e-mailed or given in written to the proper authorities.
Refund will be given after certain deductions as per the schedule.
