Tons River Expedition

The Tons River is located in the Garhwal hills in the western part of the state of Uttaranchal. It is one of the biggest tributary of the Yamuna River with its source to be found in the high snow line of the Bandarpunchh Mountain. It is situated in the Jaunsar Bawar region of Garhwal which has a unique heritage going back to the times of Pandavas and Kauravas. It is a ultimate experience for any white water rafting enthusiast to test his skills against a river which can throw surprises on every bend, the twist and turns of the river are akin to riding a roller coaster in full spin. It is a challenging river which surprises you with a continuous series of grade III and grade IV rapids.

The adventure starts at our camp located near a quiet little hamlet known as Mori in the Uttarkashi district. The camp is situated amongst natural surroundings amidst thick forests on one side and the scenic Tons River on the other side. What makes this destination unique, is the varied amount of activities which are available both from the perspective of the die hard adventure seekers and families out to enjoy the beauty of Mother Nature in its true form. Apart from white water rafting, you have plentiful angling opportunities to catch some trout and some marvelous day treks in the adjoining forests. Tons is also home to some fabulous multi day treks going into the Sangla Valley, Ruinsiara Tal to name a few.

Itinerary:

Day 1

The journey would start in the evening from Delhi. The total distance which would be covered on this day would be approximately 413 Km. The choice with you is, whether to complete the journey in 1 day or opt for a night halt in Mussoorie. Mussoorie is at a distance of 270 Km from Delhi and a overnight stay can be considered here. If not, then you have to push on towards Kempty Falls and onwards to Nainbagh, Naugaon, Purola and finally Mori village.

Day 2

The camp would be ready and waiting for your arrival at Breakfast. After a sumptuous meal you can relax in the camp for the early part of the day till Lunch. After lunch it would be time for a briefing on white water rafting commands and techniques to acquaint you with the sport. It would serve as a refresher and important information for both the acquainted and beginners respectively. After this a short rafting trip would be completed to practice the commands and techniques to be used the next day. In the evening the guests can go for a short trek in the nearby hills to take a first hand look at the abundant flora and fauna of the region. In the night a bonfire by the riverside would be set for the guests.
